Knox CountyPiranhas

The Knox County Piranhas were formed in 1989 by Albert York where he remained head coach until 1996.  The team has always been open to all swimmers in the Knox County area believing all children have a right to join our team and learn to swim while having a fun time.  The team started competing in the Lake Cumberland Swim Association in 1990.  In 1992 they were conference runner up.  By 1993 the Piranhas were ready to host their first (and to date) last conference meet.  With 44 swimmers entered in that meet they managed to get their first conference win.  In 1995 with no water in the pool all summer they still managed to take a 4th place.  The team has grown from 45 swimmers to over 100 swimmers.  The coaches have been Albert York-8 years, Scott Self-1 year, Dave Kirschner-3 years, and Bill Kehrer-1 year.  Dee Dole has coached since then..  This year she is assisted by Jay Brock, Julie McClure, Dara Lester, and Maggie Doty.  The Knox County Piranhas are proud to be associated with the LCSA and to represent our area.
